“I was a little bit scared.
I was a bit upset.
But the most important thing was I was happy that she had done it,” she said.
The victim was identified only by her first name, Joanna.
She told police she was raped by a man who had befriended her when she was in her teens.
In court, she described the assault as a “horrible, horrific, horrible, horrible thing.”
Joanna, who was 17 at the time, said she had told her parents about the attack when she became pregnant.
She said she was taken to a secluded location in a wooded area by a male who raped her.
She gave birth in her bedroom in October of 2016.
She was taken into state custody in October after prosecutors learned the man was living with her.
The man, who prosecutors described as a former acquaintance, was also arrested in April after being identified by the woman.
Joanna was sentenced to 12 years and 10 months in prison for rape and forced oral copulation.
She served the remainder of her sentence on supervised release.
The case against her is still pending.
