Lubbock’s Big Coffee, the first-ever grand opening of a Starbucks in the United States, took place on September 17.
The event showcased the first Starbucks in Lubbocks history and it was also the first time Starbucks’ iconic blue-and-yellow sign was installed.
This event, along with the rest of the grand opening, is remembered by Lubboclub as one of the best events of its kind.
“We couldn’t be more excited to bring Starbucks to Lubboc,” said Michael T. Crouch, co-founder and chief executive officer of Big Coffee.
“Starbucks has been a longtime and valued partner to L.A. and we’re excited to share our hometown with a local coffee shop that’s been around for years.”
Starbucks Coffee, located in the former Tazewell Chemical Company factory, was opened in 1976.
The company has grown to more than 1,500 locations in North America, Europe and Asia.
